Author Guidelines
1. Article Types
Both original and review articles are accepted. The type of the article (review/original article/case report etc.) is to be defined at the first page of a manuscript under the title (please, see the example in the template file).
2. Language of the Manuscript
Manuscripts prepared in Polish or English are accepted for review in the Journal. The article may be rejected due to the insufficient language level. No language correction nor translation services are provided by the Editorial Office.
3. Title and keywords
The title should deliver clear and direct information on the article topic and aim. For the searching purposes, it is a good practice to include some of the keywords in the title. Regardless of the language in which the manuscript is written, the title should be in English.
3 to 5 keywords must be defined.
4. Authors and affiliations
Define one correspondence author, mark the name with * symbol and provide the contact email. The authors should be placed in the order of the contribution to the manuscript, starting from the highest level of contribution. For authors who have contributed equally, use † symbol behind the name. The contributions must be described at the end of the manuscript (see the ‘Author Contribution’ in the template file). In case for one author multiple affiliations are needed, put them one after the other, separated by a semicolon. For acknowledgments, see the ‘Acknowledgments’ section in the template file. Do not add acknowledgments in the place reserved for the authors and affiliations.
5. The main text
For the review, only manuscripts written in accordance with the template file available below will be accepted. For the review articles the division into sections may differ from the template which is targeted mainly at the original manuscripts. The following sections are included:
- Introduction: The introduction should define the purpose of the work, its significance, as well as the current state of the research field. The introduction should be kept comprehensible to scientists outside your particular field of research.
- Materials and Methods: This section should be described with sufficient details to allow others to replicate and build on the published results. New methods and protocols should be described in detail while well-established methods can be briefly described and appropriately cited.
- Results: This section should provide a concise and precise description of the experimental results, their interpretation, as well as the experimental which can be drawn from the individual parts of research. Subsections may be applied. For the figures’ description, see the template file.
- Discussion: The results should be discussed and put in the perspective of previous studies and other working hypotheses. Future research directions may also be highlighted.
- Conclusions: This section is not mandatory but can be added to the manuscript if the discussion is unusually long or complex.
At the end of the manuscript an Appendix may be added. Appendix is an optional section that can contain details and data supplementary to the main text which are crucial to understand and/or reproduce the results but their description in the main text would disrupt the flow of the text.
The length of the article is not restricted. However, if the figures (e.g. tables) longer than 3 pages are planned, consider putting them into a Supplementary Materials. The magazine reserves the right to request figure’s removal from the main text and its placement in the Supplementary Materials what may affect the structure of the manuscript. Supplementary Materials cannot contain a plain text. Only numbered figures with titles are allowed in the Supplementary Materials. After publication, Supplementary Materials will be available according to the same the Open Access policy as the manuscript itself.
Abbreviations and acronyms must be explained at their first appearance in the manuscript.
Values should be given in the SI units (International System of Units).
All figures must be numbered and own a title or description.
For chemical structures, the ChemDraw or similar utility is advised. Please, make sure that the submitted figures are readable, own a legend and axes’ descriptions.
A required file format for the submission is rtf.
6. Others
Place for funding, acknowledgment and informed consent statement is reserved at the end of manuscript. In case the given section does not apply to your manuscript, type ‘not relevant’. Before the publication this paragraph will deleted.
7. Conflict of Interest
At the end of the manuscript the authors must define the existing conflicts of interest or declare no conflict of interest.
Moreover, alongside the submitted manuscript, the following statement must be sent: ’We confirm that neither the manuscript nor any parts of its content are currently under consideration or published in another journal. All authors have approved the manuscript and agree with its submission to Prospects in Pharmaceutical Sciences’
8. References
References must be numbered in order of their appearance in the text (including citations in tables and legends) and listed individually at the end of the manuscript. Citations and references in the Supplementary Materials are permitted provided that they also appear in the reference list here. For the reference examples, see the template file. The accepted citation style is the American Chemical Society citation style. DOI (Digital Object Identifier) number may be included but is not required.
For a direct citation of a plain text within the main text, the cited part must clearly indicated and put in a quote and a reference must be added to the references list.
For the website citation, pay attention to indicate the date: ‘accessed on day-month-year’.
9. Abstract
To each manuscript an abstract of up to 250 words in English must be prepared. No acronyms (unless explained in parentheses) should be used. Abstract must be placed at the first page of the manuscript and will be published in the same place of the article.
10. Graphical Abstract
We encourage to attach a graphical abstract which will indicate the topic / methods described in the article. A graphical abstract will be visible on the journal's website before the opening of the main part of the article. Graphical abstract should be prepared in JPEG or PNG format.
