Peer Review Process

In the first place, before accepting the submitted article for review, the Editorial Staff verifies compliance with the formal criteria. Those formal criteria are:

• the subject of the manuscript must be consistent with the journal's profile
• editing the manuscript following the instructions for the authors
• manuscript linguistic correctness
• the manuscript has not been previously published and is not being considered for publication in another journal
• the manuscript does not bear the signs of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism

After the editor-in-chief initially verifies the article, the manuscript is sent submitted through a review process, maintaining the confidentiality of both the reviewers and the authors (double-blind peer-review). To evaluate each publication, two independent reviewers from outside of the research unit affiliated with the author are appointed. The names of the reviewers of individual publications or journal issues are not disclosed. We encourage the Authors to point out at least one potential reviewer. No conflict of interest may exist between the indicated possible reviewer and the Authors.

Following the ICMJE recommendations, reviewers and editorial staff members must not publicly discuss the authors’ work, and reviewers must not appropriate authors’ ideas before the manuscript is published.  Manuscripts and the information they contain are strictly confidential. Reviewers must not retain the manuscript for their personal use and should destroy paper copies of manuscripts and delete electronic copies after submitting their reviews.

Reviewers can accept, reject the manuscript, or suggest to the authors to revise and resubmit. Each time the decision of the reviewers is justified. Reviewer comments and verdict is shared with the authors of the manuscript. The editor-in-chief makes the final decision on the publication of the manuscript.

After acceptance, the Correspondence Authors receive the manuscript for a final check and approval. Afterward, no changes are possible.

Only articles that have not yet been published are accepted.

Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is not allowed. It is required to clearly mark the quoted fragments and provide the source. Figures, charts, and tables from other works should be published only after obtaining the written permission of the authors of the original works or the copyright owner. For more detailed information on plagiarism and publishing ethics, see the section ‘Ethical Standards’.
