ORAL CAVITY CANCER - EPIDEMIOLOGICAL DATA AND RISK FACTORS

Abstract

In Poland, the incidence of oral cancer is on the rise. This disease is also particularly common in countries of south-east Asia. It is more prevalent in men than in women. The main risk factors include: alcohol consumption, smoking tobacco and, particularly in Asia, chewing betel. Other relevant factors are: genetic predisposition, poor diet, bad lifestyle and inappropriate oral hygiene.
