COUNTERFEITING OF MEDICINAL PRODUCTS AND THREATS ASSOCIATED WITH THEIR TAKING

Abstract

Currently, counterfeiting of medicinal products poses a threat to human health and life. This phenomenon occurs in many countries on all continents. World Health Organization presents data that the most commonly counterfeit of medicinal drugs are antimalarial drugs, antibiotics, PDE5 inhibitors, slimming drugs and anabolic steroids. The threat to health and life associated with the use of counterfeit medicinal products is serious. The use of such products makes impossible to provide safe and effective therapy, and also causes the occurrence of serious side effects. Patients using counterfeit drugs often have to be hospitalized. It negatively affects the country's economic situation. The falsification of medicinal products violates the intellectual property of copyright, trademarks and patents.
