Abstract

Exosomes are spherical membrane nanovesicles that are released by almost all cell types. As structures containing many different bioactive molecules, they are involved in the exchange of information and in the transport of elements between cells, initiating or modulating specific physiological and pathological processes. Exosomes have an enormous potential to being used in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of many diseases, including tumors. The paper presents current approach to exosomes – particularly their role in communication between cancer cells and the possibility of their application in diagnostics and oncological therapy.
