Abstract

Indazole is a heterocyclic aromatic compound. Its derivatives have a wide range of biological activities, e.g. antiinflammatory, antimicrobial and anticancer. Considering that cancer is currently one of the main causes of human mortality worldwide, the anticancer activity of indazole derivatives merits special attention. The indazole ring is a structural element of many drugs used in oncology, such as granisetron, axitinib or lonidamine. Because of this, indazole is an important lead compound in the search for novel chemotherapeutic agents with antitumor activity.

In this article the most recent literature reports that describe indazole derivatives with anticancer activity are reviewed.

Keywords:

indazole, anticancer activity, antiproliferative activity, breast cancer, lung carcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma
