Coffee (a decoction of coffee seeds), which is one of the most frequently consumed beverages, contains numerous substances with various pharmacological effects and a diverse chemical structure. The main ones include caffeine (purine alkaloids), chlorogenic acid (phenolic acids), kahweol and cafestol (diterpenes) and trigonelline (pyridine alkaloids).
